Sarah Burton's for Alexander McQueen Fall 2011 collection was inspired by "The Ice Queen and her court," a theme that easily feeds into all the hype of Princess Kate Middleton's wedding dress designed by Sarah Burton herself.
The Fall 2011 collection is reminiscent of The Black Swan with black leather clad beauties and white snow queen’s covered in elegant white feathers and fur trims. The real standout of the collection was the mosaic bodices that feature on a few of the gowns which made them look perfectly antique. Burton building the collection around an appropriately limited palette of white, black and lilac and a very Alexander McQueen silhouette, one molded and aggressive, its structure intensified by multiple graphic zippers and, sometimes, a harness.
It seems even though the world acclaimed designer is no longer with us, his legacy lives on and his creative flair still permeates throughout the designs that are produced by his label.
