Elegantly assertive style is breezing back onto the fashion radar thanks to young local designer Stacey Christie who is gently changing the pace on the red carpet this season. Christie’s style, lauded by her celebrity fans, heralds a change in the fashion forecast with a shift towards fresh glamour with unique graceful pieces, infused with intense colour and universal appeal. Christie provides a welcome option for discerning brides who are choosing understated elegance and is sure to win over the bridesmaids as well!
Christie’s second collection launched at Fashion + Aid alongside fashion luminaries Jason Grech and Lisa Brown and her recent popularity at the Brownlows has made hera red carpet favourite. Aptly named Alkira, the new collection is inspired by the Australian sky, diarising its colours, movement and a distinctive lightness and freedom that is evident in all Christie’s designs.
Setting out on her own in 2008, Christie decided to launch a flagship boutique in 2009. She hasn’t looked back. Unique hand worked trims and original signature prints are standout elements in a collection that is a successful synthesis of daring meets demure. The sophisticated and joyous pieces introduce a simple timeless elegance to the fashion landscape and are drawing the attention of Melbourne’s inner circle.
“I do have some celebrity clients who will be wearing the dresses during upcoming spring fashion events and the racing carnival however I prefer to keep the focus on the dresses that inspire confidence in anyone who wears them,” says Christie.
Her clients, Kelly Landry, Jemma Gawned, Pia Miller, Tottie Goldsmith and Kasia Z to name a few, can be seen receiving the same private fittings and attention as all her clients. A flexible approach means clients can develop their individual style choosing varying embellishments and colours from Christie’s original designs.
As word quickly spreads, demand has dictated another store opening and Stacey Christie will arrive in Sydney’s fashion central, Paddington’s acclaimed William Street alongside Dinnigan and Edminston in December 2010. Stacey Christie Melbourne boutique located at 6A Anchor Place Prahran, is open by appointment.
